Birgitta

My name is Birgitta Strandberg and I have been breeding Birmans since 1986.
When I lost both my parents and my husband during the years 1984-86 I got such problems with my stomach which made me retire from work.
At that time I started my breeding by taking a litter from my first Birman, a sealpoint female called Josefin. After that I have been breeding seven generations from her and I have also kept a kitten in each generation!
Three times I have imported males as studs; from Australia, Germany and the Netherlands, to get some new blood-lines to mix with my own lines.
I have not had more than three litters a year and as I some year ago got fibromyalgia with a lot of pain in the whole body I have to reduce my breeding even more.
My husband Göran and I have lived with the cats in a big house out in the country for the last seven years, but with the pain from the fibromyalgia the big house was to hard for me to take care of, so we now live in an apartment in town, Gävle.
My cattery is known as a healthy cattery and we are both at home with the cats so my kittens are very social, they are safe and like to cuddle and they easily settle down in their new homes.
I try to breed healthy cats with a good "Birman  look", good size and a good temperament.
I´m a member of Uppsala Cat Club, Sverak, The Midnight Sun Society for the Sacred Birman Cats and also of Royal Canin Breeder Club and I also support some associations that take care of poor cats.
From 2005 there were new rules from the Ministry of Agriculture for breeding more than two litters a year. I´m approved for that so I got my certificate.
Welcome to my web site - I hope you will enjoy it!
